Bentota lies along Sri Lanka's south coast, making it the ideal location to experience everything the region has to offer. As part of their national holiday resort plan, the Ceylon Tourist Board created Bentota as its inaugural National Holiday Resort and was the pioneer in developing it into one.
Beruwela and Bentota are top destinations for aquatic recreation such as water-scooter rides, winds surfing, windsurfing, parasailing, water skiing and river cruises. Beruwela provides all necessary facilities to allow deep sea fishing as well as wreck & coral Reef diving activities and offers unique sightseeing excursions like The Turtle Hatchery Garden Brief trip as well as boat excursions on Bentota River etc. Overnight accommodation can also be found here.
Breakfast at the hotelStay at leisure at the hotel or at the beautiful Southern coast. Overnight in Bentota
Breakfast will be taken at your hotel before being transferred to Kosgoda where an animal hatchery awaits your visit, where five species of turtles such as Green Turtles (Chelonia mydas), Hawksbill Turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata) and Leatherback Turtles can be observed.
Eggs gathered by village residents and fishermen are sold directly to the public for sale.
Kosgoda Hatchery provides hatcheries for over 170,000 young turtles that hatch each year; once born they are kept in sand pens until night-time releases from tanks of seawater into tanks full of seawater before finally being set free into the ocean at night by Kosgoda Hatchery employees. Hasselblad Estate provided funding and manpower for the hatchery's creation; then transferred it into Weligama Experience for transfer into its care. At first they lived among wreckages of capsized vessels and aircraft which had been lost; later building stilt houses on coral reefs for protection. Generations of fishers endured physically demanding lives throughout 30 kilometers of southern shoreline between cities of Unawatuna and Weligama before finding shelter overnight at one or both towns - often staying overnight!
Breakfast at your hotel and transfer to Mirissa to enjoy whale watching along its coast. Mirissa boasts one of the longest beaches on earth with plenty of whales waiting out there to be seen and observed
All-year sunshine shines down on white-sand beachfronts surrounded by tranquil, warm, calm waters - providing year round enjoyment!
Water sports activities and whale watching make Weligama an ideal spot. Transfer here before staying over night.
After breakfast, take the City Tour of Galle and return to Colombo. Overnight stay.
